KUALA LUMPUR: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) has awarded RM2.73bil worth of works comprising three viaduct packages and one station package for the construction of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line.
In a statement Friday, MRT Corp said Work Package V205 for the construction and completion of the viaduct guideway and other associated works from Kampung Muhibbah to Serdang Raya was awarded to Trans Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd. The contract sum is RM858.18mil.
MRT Corp said the tender for Work Package V205, which was in the open category, commenced on Nov 1, 2016 and closed on Jan 12, 2017. It added that a total of five companies had submitted tenders. The winning tenderer have also been awarded an advanced work package for the construction of the MRT SSP Line.
Gadang Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd has been awarded the work package V206 worth RM952.09mil for the construction and completion of the viaduct guideway and other associated works from Serdang Raya to UPM.
MRT Corp said the tender for Work Package V209, which was in the Bumiputera Category, commenced on Sept 19, 2016 and closed on Nov 21, 2016. A total of four tenders were submitted.
It added that Acre Works was involved in the construction of the SBK Line, handling the advance work package for the design and build contract for the new JKR Wilayah Persekutuan Workshop as associated, as well as the supply and delivery of segmental box girders.
“The award for the three packages, which completes the tenders for all 10 viaduct work packages for the SSP Line, were made following a One-Stop Procurement I (OSPC I) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak. OSPC I meetings are held to determine work packages valued at RM300mil and above,” MRT Corp said.
Meanwhile, a separate OSPC II meeting to determine work packaged valued at less than RM300mil and chaired by the Minister of Finance II Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, was also held to decide on the award of Work Package S201 for the construction and completion of elevated stations and other associated works at Damansara Damai, Sri Damansara West and Sri Damansara East.
The successful tenderer for the work package was Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd. The contract sum is RM 212.3mil.
MRT Corp CEO Datuk Shahril Mokhtar congratulated the successful tenderers and welcomed the fact that they were already very familiar with the Klang Valley MRT Project.
“I wish to welcome them back to the MRT Project. Their experience working on the SBK Line will be invaluable as they have would have many lessons learnt. I believe this will enable them to give their best and perform well for the SSP Line Project,” he said.
Shahril added that all four winning tenderers were selected on the basis of the best evaluated tender, where the tenders were evaluated on their technical, commercial, legal, financial and Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP) evaluation.
