PETALING JAYA: PAS Youth has called for the Islamist party to cut ties with PKR.

In a statement on Wednesday, Subang PAS Youth chief Hanafi Zulkapli (pic) said they hoped that the party’s national leadership would agree with the suggestion.

This was a response to PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali tweet mocking ” Tok Lebai” a local colloquialism that refers to someone who wears a skullcap.

Azmin tweeted it after both PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and its youth wing chief Nik Abduh Nik Aziz said they would take over Selangor in the next general election.

Hanafi retorted and claimed that Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail would have been the Selangor mentri besar if not for PAS.

He further claimed PAS’ election machinery was responsible for Azmin winning the Gombak constituency.

“Azmin needs to accept the fact that PAS has strong grassroots support. His cynicism is equivalent to him shooting himself in his foot as the PKR election machinery is not strong anywhere,” said Hanafi.

Meanwhile, Selangor PAS ulama Ahmad Dusuki Abdul said on Facebook that despite the fact that the “Tok Lebai” was not a mentri besar or a prime minister, the greatest weapon in his arsenal was the power of prayer.
